Islamabad: A glimpse of the affected vehicle

Islamabad police officers opened fire on a car in Sector G10 between Friday and Saturday night, killing a young man.

Police claim that if the suspicious vehicle did not stop despite the signal, the tires were fired on, but the bullets hit the youth.

Officers arrested

Five members of the anti-terrorism squad involved in the killing of the youth have been taken into custody. Officers chased the vehicle and opened fire on the vehicle on the Srinagar Highway. ATS officers fired directly at civilians instead of car tires.

Sheikh Rashid's action

Talking to Samaa in an exclusive interview, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that five officials involved in the incident have been arrested. He said that action would be taken against all the officials involved under Section 302 and Terrorism Act. The Home Minister added that the officials involved would be prosecuted for murder. The request of the victim's father has been received for registration of the case.

The father's statement came to light

A video statement of the father of a young student who was shot dead by police officers in Islamabad also came to light. The victim's father said that his son had gone to drop off his friend at the university last night, where he had a quarrel with the police officers. An application has been lodged with the police station for action against the officials.

Police claim

A full and transparent investigation was ordered by the IG police after the incident was reported. Earlier, police claimed that ATS personnel had received a report of a suspicious vehicle. The call received by the police said that the robbers were trying to rob Shams Colony, on which the ATS police chased the vehicle.

Police claimed in a statement that officers opened fire on the tires when the vehicle did not stop, but at the same time two bullets hit the young man, killing him.


Order of inquiry

It is to be noted that after the incident came to light, IG Islamabad took notice of the incident and formed teams for investigation, for which footage from nearby CCTV cameras was also obtained. Under the supervision of DIG Operations, led by SSP CTD, SP President and SP Initiative launched investigation.

The IG has also ordered police teams to conduct a full investigation into the incident. The IG said that an immediate fact-based investigation into the incident would be carried out.

According to the hospital administration, the young man is between 21 and 22 years old. The young man was also shot in the head and mouth.

In the pictures received, it can be seen that several bullets were also fired on the windscreen of the vehicle, which passed through, while there are also bullet marks on the side of the vehicle.
